Apa yang terlintas di benak kita, ketika melihat speaker kita rusak ?,,
Ada tiga pilihan yang bisa kita lakukan, yaitu :

• Pertama, membeli yang baru
• Kedua, menjualnya 
• dan yang Ketiga ialah dengan memperbaikinya

Tetapi tindakan yang lebih bijak dan efisien lebih murah adalah dengan merawatnya. Lantas, bagaimana kita merawatnya ??,, Tentu saja kita perlu melihat jenis speaker itu, misalnya saja tentang cara cara kerja dan bagaimana mempertahankan kualitas suara yang baik dan maksimal. Secara umum, speaker adalah perangkat yang mengubah energi listrik menjadi energi suara atau akustik yang dikeluarkan melalui udara.

Seperti kita ketahui, bahwa speaker merupakan keluaran akhir yang bisa kita dengar dari berbagai pesawat, seperti radio; tape/kaset recorder; CD; VCD; TV; dan lain-lain. Berikut ini disajikan tips bagaimana caranya agar karakter sebuah speaker trus melekat sesuai karakter yang diinginkan pabrikan.

• Ketahui dengan persis, jenis teknologi yang melekat dalam speaker.

Bila dilihat dari desain, speaker dapat dibedakan menjadi speaker ber-drive full range, dua jalur, dan tiga jalur. Speaker full range bisa dikatakan dapat bermain di seluruh bidang dinamika. Speaker dua jalur berbeda ukuran yang ditempatkan dalam satu kabinet. Di sini terdapat dua speaker berkarakteristik tweeter kecil yang mer-repro frekuensi tinggi dan satu lagi woofer yang bermain di frekuensi rendah.  Di dalam speaker juga terdapat sebuah sirkuit crossover yang menyaring sinyal, sehingga setiap driver menerima frekuensi yang berada dalam wilayah jangkauannya. Dan jenis yang terakhir ini adalah membagi sinyal dengan luasnya bidang masing-masing di antara tiga driver tadi. Di antara ketiga jenis speaker ini, speaker full range bersuara kasar, kurang detil, dan kurang akurat dibandingkan speaker dua jalur. Speaker tiga jalur lebih baik lagi dibanding speaker dua jalur. Hal ini karena speaker tiga jalur menggunakan sebuah tweeter dan dua buah woofer. di mana setiap driver mempunyai tugas mengurus bidang frekuensi tertentu.

• Ketahuilah jenis musik atau audio yang anda sukai.

Satu hal yang sering dilupakan orang adalah karakter speaker akan lebih pas bila dipakai untuk jenis atau warna musik tertentu. Speaker untuk jenis musik ROCK misalnya, lebih mengedepankan bas, sedangkan untuk musik akustik lebih mengedepankan mid-range yang akurat. Speaker untuk suara film mengandalkan kekuatan atau keakuratan tonal suara.

• Jangan menghubungkan amplifier ke speaker , ketika amplifier masih menyala (ON) dan sedang di drive oleh sebuah sinyal.
• Jangan menyalakan perangkat elektronika tambahan yang ber-level rendah , seperti MIXER, EQUALIZER, dan lainnya setelah menghidupkan power amplifier.
• Pakai kapasitor bloking arus searah pada driver kompresi frekuensi tinggi untuk melindungi driver dari sinyal-sinyal berfrekuensi rendah.
• Hendaknya hindari sinyal frekuensi rendah yang berlebihan karena bisa merusak konus. Sebaiknya gunakan filter high-pass berspesifikasi 40-50 Hz pada 18 dB per oktaf.
• Hindari terjadinya feedback. Sebab driver ber-frekuensi tinggi bisa saja di pengaruhi oleh feedback.
• Hindari kotoran seperti debu dan cairan dari horn frekuensi tinggi.
• Sebaiknya setiap speaker di dukung oleh stand speaker.
• Hendaknya cegah terjadinya ground loop.

Ground Loop dan power-amp tinggi bisa saja membahayakan speaker. Dan jangan menghubungkan speaker ke perangkat saat power-amp sedang menyala (ON). Untuk itu, gunakanlah konektor untuk mengawali hubungan ground, seperti konektor tipe XLR.

• Lokasi speaker hendaknya berada di area dengan temperatur dan kelembaban yang cukup.
• Jangan memakai ekualisasi yang berlebihan, sebaiknya hindari perbedaan frekuensi yang terlalu tinggi. Sebab saat melakukan ekualisasi kemungkinan speaker tidak mampu me-
